Our history
In 2008, YOM sent its first missions team to Romania, led by Mark and Melany Goetsch. Since then, we’ve returned each year, with the exception of 2012, to help Dan Ulich at Hope for the Future Camp in Sighet Maremures and Brent & Sara George with the gypsy ministry in Mediestu.
Highlights from past trips
- In most years, God has allowed our week of camp to reach full capacity (200+ campers plus leaders). Many years, 75% of the campers are first-time attenders.
- We’re thrilled each year to see a large number of boys and girls trust Jesus Christ as their personal Savior as the invitation is given on Thursday evening.
- We’re amazed each year at the growth of the believers in the gypsy church in Mediestu. Each year, we run a VBS type program in the morning for the boys and girls. In a village with around 150 children, we’ve seen as many as 70 children come for a morning of activities, including Bible lessons, review games, scripture memory, games, crafts, and basic English education. In the evenings, we meet under the tent for a service and have seen the villagers come out for a time of singing, testimonies, and Bible preaching.
Now, YOM is planning it’s 12th missions trip to Romania next summer. Please pray about joining our team!
